Pianist Omer Klein and Trumpeter Sebastian Studnitzky need no introduction. They are both internationally acclaimed composers and band leaders, who have been creating their own unique sound worlds for years. Having known and appreciated each other's work for a while, it was only in the summer of 2021 that the two played their first notes together, in what would become a decisive moment.

"Almost by chance, we were booked to play a duo concert in Usingen, not far from my homebase in Frankfurt, and I had a feeling this was going to be special", says Klein. Studnitzky affirms: "From the first note it was clear that we have zero boundaries between us and the music. We were fearless together", and Klein adds: "The music flowed so effortlessly, that we almost had to laugh sometimes, and we seemed to be able to invite the audience to take part in every little nuance."

The two decided to continue developing their newly formed duo, and this is how their current program was created. The material includes some of Klein's compositions, some of Studnitzky's, and covers of tunes by their favorite artists: Monk, Stevie Wonder, Jobim. "It's this kind of situation where the how is more important than the what", says Studnitzky, "the songs are there for us to have a starting point. We immediately jump to the unknown with them, and it's a lot of fun". Klein concludes: "It's this highwire, risk-taking, sense of discovery, that makes it worthwhile for an artist to go on stage, and for people to go listen. It's thrilling to be a part of something like that."
