KUKLA is a cinematic collaboration of Mariia Yakobchuk as a movement and film director with Sebastian Studnitzky, German musician, who created MARGOLINA composition with Odesa Philarmonic Orchestra, as a sound design.

KUKLA is Mariia’s reflexion on emigration experience. Appearing in the vulnerable group of the population twice (as both contemporary artist refugee) made Mariia sublimate her path into this debut work. “There was no way not to make it happen, our simple existence was kidnapped so rapaciously, that the urge to answer to this new calmly unfair reality became unrestrained”, - she says.

KUKLA is wrapped in a rag chewed bread (and the like), that it was used instead of pacifier.dialectism: curtailed flax fibre.

KUKLA is short, abstract, poetic film, produced in Berlin in 2024 by the team of young Ukrainian artists, affected by Russian-Ukrainian war.
